A study on the analysis of Community periodontal treatment need index in 15 years

Abstract
The CPITN has been developed jointly by the International Dental Federation and the World Health Organization. CPITN is now an established index of level, of periodotal conditions in populations for whitch specific interventions might be
considered.
A CPITN survey was conducted involving 800 Korean subjects from 15 years old of age. Subjects have been randomly selected form both urban and rural in Chunnam and Kyoungnam area. CPITN based upon the clinical assessment of 10 index teeth with a
specially designed periodontal probe.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1. More than 87% of the subjects need some periodontal treatment.
2. The most frequently observed condition was score 2 (calculus with or without bleeding), although some shallow pocketing of 4-5mm was present in most populations surveyed.
3. The major treatment requirement in 15 age groups was for simple periodontal care involving scaling and oral hygiene instruction that could be managed by non-specialist dental resources.
